Photos and Stories from the Firefighters visit

Hi everyone!
I have not forgotten to post the photos from our visit from the Fire Service last week - I have just temporarily misplaced the USB stick with the photos on it!  I am pretty sure I will find it soon.  Keep watching for these to be posted - it was a fantastic visit.

A visit from Constable Jasmine

Constable Jasmine came to visit us. She showed us all the buttons in her Police Car. We got to talk in the loud speaker. Some of us got to turn on the siren. Constable Jasmine let us have a look inside the police car. She showed us her jacket that glows at night. She showed us where she keeps her gun but she can only carry a gun when her boss says she can. She also showed us her hat, her gloves, her weapon to smash a window (baton), her pepper spray which is made from chilli and water. She uses the spray when people won't put their weapons down. She would spray it into their eyes and it stings like shampoo! Constable Jasmine and the Police Officers work very hard to keep people safe and sensible. Thank you for visiting us Constable Jasmine! We learned a lot from you and had a fabulous time.

Pizzas and Plans

On Fun Friday last week, we celebrated the letter Zz by making pizza! But first, we had to use our maths and planning brains, and create a plan of the pizza we would make. We used ActivInspire on the laptops to design our pizzas. Then, we got to make them! Mrs Kitchen rated them 1, 2 or 3 stars - 3 stars meant our pizza looked just like our plan, 2 means they were similar, and 1 star meant we didn't follow the plan at all. The pizzas were DELICIOUS!! We are great pizza cooks. Mia decided that she was going to take her plan home so that she could make pizzas for her family. What a terrific idea Mia! Here are our pizzas and plans:

Ambulance Visit

Today we saw an Ambulance.  The ambulance came to our school.  We liked looking at the ambulance.  We learned about the medicines, the "breather" (oxygen and mask), the special tv that makes hearts go again, the bandages, the sirens and lights, and the special beds.  The siren was so loud, but it has to be loud so people can hear the ambulance and get out of the way.  There was a transformer chair and a scoop stretcher as well.  Kauri got to put on the blood pressure cuff.
We even got to go inside the ambulance.  They gave us a sticker and a special ambulance that you can make.

Independent Writers of the Week!

Every Friday we write independently about our Letter of the Week food fun activity.  This is tricky for the kids, because they are not allowed help from their friends or their teachers when they are writing.  They have to think of their sentence and listen for the sounds all by themselves.  Some kids are trying really hard at independent writing time.  These three kids were our independent writers of the week.  They got to read their stories to Mr Prchal, who gave them a Principal's sticker and a Showing Responsibility Voucher.  Well done guys!

I like the jelly pop.  The jelly pop was yummy.  I liked it.

Amelia

I like my jelly.

Max

I liked the jelly oranges.

J is for J-J-J-J-Jelly!

Today it was fun Friday again!  We have been making jelly treats this week to taste and they were so delicious.  We made traffic light jelly pops...

And Jelly Oranges, as well as a Rainbow Jelly Bar...

We got to try all three and had to decide which one we liked the best.

Then, we graphed our results.  We discovered that the most popular treat was the traffic light jelly pop!

We had three "photographers" in our class today.  Their job was to use the ipods to take some photos of the jelly tasting. Today, our photographers were Kadin, Isabella and Chevelle.  Here are their three best photos:

They did a fantastic job!  Well done photographers.

We had so much fun doing Pirate and Princess Maths on our dress-up day last week! Check out our slideshow...

Tri-Kids 2013

We were so lucky to have Murray, Abby and Tim come and teach us how to do a triathlon! For two days, they showed us what to do in transition, how to walk and park the bikes and how to do up our helmets. Then on the third day, we did a REAL triathlon! We are TRIATHLETES!!!
